Paul's love affair with guitars and music began at an early age.
After starting his musical journey by playing piano for several years, Paul picked up the guitar and has not put it down ever since. He loves guitar so much he has a collection of vintage and modern instruments that he makes use to create the subtle sound changes in the variety of songs that Jen and the Men play.
Paul has played in numerous bands, most recently Happy Ending and the Unusual Suspects, which he helped form and played in for almost two years.
A rocker in mind and in heart, Paul enjoys listening to classic rock bands, such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Eagles, Deep Purple and Metallica, along with progressive bands like Rush, Steely Dan and Dream Theatre. Pop bands, like Collective Soul, Matchbox 20, U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers Foo Fighters and Kings of Leon are also on his favorites list.
His favorite songwriters include Peter Gabriel, Jeff Lynn, Rob Thomas, Don Henley and, of course, The Beatles.
His guitar influences vary and include guitar heroes Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, John Petrucci, Joe Satriani, Larry Carlton, Carlos Santana, Mark Knopfler, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eddie Van Halen.
While Paul grew up with rock, he loves all kinds of music, including blues, country, pop, dance and jazz. At one extreme, he enjoys the raw quality of a live recording, and at the other, he appreciates the well-produced structure of music that is made with concept and precision. Most of all, he loves a well-crafted song where every note, every word and every drum beat, is there for a reason. Whether it is a simple pop song, or a complex progressive piece, Paul enjoys music that makes sense and has a purpose.
His guitar collection includes PRS, Music Man, Fender and Gibson.
He is currently using a Mesa Boogie rig, with Tiaxis for preamp and a TC Electronics G-Major for effects.
He also plays around with a Roland GR-20 guitar synth.
His aim is for complete versatility of sound.
At some point, Paul wants to play the saxophone, as he enjoys its raw emotion…
As long as he has been playing and listening to music, Paul has been writing it. He long ago traded in his 4-track and now records his musical pieces on his Cubase 5 home studio.
